The story of Erin Mitchell

“I have been cooking on HOMEBIOGAS for a year now and I absolutely love it but the most exciting part is that I run an Airbnb in Joshua Tree, CA and I rent out Yurts. I was originally using composting toilets for my guests and you can imagine how much fun that was. All my Yurts have their own BIOGAS Flushing toilet!!.”

Important to know:

  1. Dimensions of the Bio-Toilet sitting bowl:  46W/49L/35H (cm) / 18W/19.3L/13.5H in, weighs 12.5 kg.
  2. Bio-Toilet cannot be fed with toilet paper.
  3. Distance from the system:
    – If the toilet bowl and the HomeBiogas system are at the same height: up to 5 meters.
    – If there is a 1-meter difference between the toilet bowl and the HomeBiogas system: up to 10 meters.

HomeBiogas should be placed outdoors only, in a place where it can get maximum sunlight (not in the shade), on a stable floor, free from any obstructions. On top of this, it is very important to make sure that you meet the following conditions:

  1. To have a water source close to where you intend to place the system.
  2. To keep a free 0.5 meters from each of the system’s sides for easy access.

The Bio-Toilet is a superior alternative to a compost toilet. As it takes human waste to the digester, to be digested by the bacteria to create biogas on a daily basis,  without any human contact, in a process that is very easy, efficient and clean, where minimal maintenance is required from the user, simply flush and go!

When HomeBiogas system is fed with human waste, the effluent that comes out of the system’s outlet can not be used as a fertilizer as it should be treated. There are several options for the effluent’s treatment, that should all be done according to the local regulation:

  1. Connecting to the sewage system
  2. Connecting to a septic tank
  3. Treating in a drain-field or mulch basin
